College Admissions Help! (Help?)

You've been thinking about college since they were born.
The day they were born.
And now that it's on you, you can't stop worrying.
And now that they are teens, you can't talk to them anyway.
WHAT TO DO????
First, relax. I can help you pick out the right school -- the right school for you and your budget.
Second, I can help you shape your application so that hopefully that that school will feel the same way.
Third, relax. Let's say they pick the wrong school. The world will still turn on its axis and your young family member will get a couple of experiences, instead of one, making him or her a well-rounded person. It's win-win.
Will you edit?
No.
No, no, no. This young person has it in them to write 500 (give or take) words about something that caused him or her to grow and change in perspective. My job is to draw that greatness out of them. I will never, ever, EVER, change a single word.
(ever.)

But the application! And the essays!
Yes. There's an application and most of them include essays. Through the wonder of the College Board and Naviance, much of the application has been filled out already. And I highly suggest you look at the Common App (and the Coalition App, but they are similar). It's not what you think. https://www.commonapp.org/Login
There's more space for demographics and info about your siblings than there is room for activities.
It's true. Go look. I'll wait.
What topics do you cover in the workshop?
*What are admissions officers really looking for in an essay?
*What is the goal of the essay?
*What topics make good essays?
*When can an essay change an admission officer's mind?
*Is this a good essay?
*How can it be better?
